Happy first birthday, Stephie! This has been the most amazing year for all of us. We love you so much and can't wait for the adventures to continue....
One year ago tonight, Mommy and Daddy had an early St. Patrick's Day dinner with Grandma Julie, Grandpa John, Grandma Michelle, and Grandpa Roger. One year ago tonight, Mommy remembers being so full after dinner that she had to stand up in order to breathe. One year ago tonight, Daddy played around with Grandpa Roger's HD video camera, thinking that he had a few more weeks to get used to it before Mommy's c-section. One year ago tonight, Mommy remembers walking upstairs to the newly unpacked rental apartment to put the leftover cake in the fridge and thinking, "this baby needs to come OUT!" And one year ago tonight, Stephie somehow listened...
Today we had Stephie outside for the first time in the grass. She tentatively poked at it a few times and then decided that she much preferred the safety and softness of the blanket instead. Of note, the spoiled bichon Brie also greatly prefers soft, cushy things, so much so that we have nicknamed her "The Princess and the Pea" when she seeks out the softest, tallest item on the house and claims it as her own. Perhaps Stephie is following Brie's lead?
...and some serious bucket-swing time at Lake Ellyn Park??? Ahhh...what a lovely day.
Stephie's latest obsession is playing with (and tasting) cards. Mommy can't wait to teach her all kind of mind-numbing classics like Go Fish and War. Also, note that Stephie is officially back in regular clothes! After wearing p.j.'s for two weeks to keep the bandages in place, she got the go-ahead today to switch to regular clothes and even got to take a bath. Ahhhh...clean baby!
