Tummy time gone wrong...

bab

Our pediatrician recommended that Stephie have some "tummy time" every day to build up her neck and back muscles and to prevent the dreaded flat head of babies who sleep on their backs. Tummy time wasn't Stephie's favorite but became even worse when Brie got in on the action; speficially, the rear end of things!

First day alone with Mommy

!
Today is the first day when Stephie and Mommy are home alone together without any family or visitors around. I thought this onesie was therefore appropriate for today! So far Stephie has been very good with feeding and napping. We even managed to talk a walk around the park with Brie!

What big feet you have!

This was our sad attempt at doing a portrait of Stephie. Yep, we'll be heading to the professional photographer sometime soon...

Brie-O-Meter

Stephie currently equals around 1/2 of a Brie. Stay tuned for future Brie-O-Meter updates....

Grandma and Grandpa Hausheer

Grandpa John, Grandma Julie, and Aunt Stephanie left for home this morning. We went out for dinner last night at Flaco's Cocina and then made the first seasonal trip to Mr. Wizard's for John. Grandma Julie had been here for 2 weeks! It was wonderful having her around for such a long period of time. We'll miss you!

Baby's first sushi

ht at
Stephie's mommy was very eager to end the 9-month sushi fast, so we went out for dinner last night at Sekisui Pacific Rim. Despite crappy service and waiting an hour for our food, Stephie slept the whole time in her car seat. What a good baby!

Trip to Daddy's house

We took a car ride over to Ed's house to check out the recent progress. It looks fantastic! Stephie was very impressed...or something like that.

Stephanie Squared

Aunt Stephanie is here! Stephie and Stephanie celebrated their common bond by dancing around the living room to Shakira and Destiny's Child. Stephie has decided that she is definitely a future Beyonce! She can rock it out!

Big day out

Stephie had her first major outing when we drove out to St. Charles yesterday afternoon. We visited with Grandma Haley and had lunch, then went to Grandma Michelle's office to meet the girls. What an adventure for a 10-day old baby!!!

Mobile time

Stephie has been sleeping in her bouncy chair in her crib since she HATES sleeping in the big open crib by herself (luckily, her pediatrician is okay with this for the next few weeks). After I put her down this morning for a nap, I noticed that she was staring contentedly at her sheep mobile, so I turned it on for her while she watched. So cute!

Aunt Berta comes to visit!

Stephie met the first of the Ryan clan today when Aunt Berta came to visit! She celebrated her arrival by being wide-awake for over an hour (her longest awake time yet!)

Baby Pool results

Congrats to the official winners of the Baby Stephanie Baby Pool!

Grandpa John guessed closest to her delivery date (3/27).

Grandma Lois guessed closest to her weight (6 pounds 2 ounces).

Who would have thought that she would be so early and so tiny! What a little St. Patrick's Day peanut!

Finally, some clothes that fit!

Thanks to some much-needed borrowed newborn sized clothes from her baby buddies Sophie and Alexandra, Stephie finally has a few outfits that actually fit her tiny little arms and legs!

What a good eater!!!

NEWS UPDATE! Stephanie went to the pediatrician for the first time today and now weighs in at a whopping 6 pounds 9 ounces, up 8 ounces from when she came home from the hospital! What a good eater...that breast milk is good stuff!

Baby's first rug!

Stephanie received a gorgeous gift in the mail yesterday from our good friend Lyle Drier. Lyle is an award-winning rug hooker and created this adorable rug for Stephie to match her nursery. I absolutely love it!

First walk in Forest Park

Stephanie, Grandma Julie, and Mommy enjoyed their very first walk in Forest Park as a 1-week celebration of Stephie's birth. We enjoyed a lovely spring afternoon around the 1.7 mile loop from our house. Stephie slept the whole time...who wouldn't in that posh stroller! It has better shocks than Daddy and Mommy's cars!

Tiny baby in one huge crib!

We're trying to get Stephie more used to sleeping in her crib; unfortunately, she much prefers her bouncy chair. This morning she looked like such a little peanut in her huge big-girl crib!

What a difference a week makes!!!

Happy 1-week old birthday, Stephanie!

Check out the card that Grandpa John made for her at:

Here are some pictures taken the night b
efore we had her:

And then from this morning, showing the way Stephie was positioned in utero.

So glad to have you on the outside, little girl!

Happy Easter!

Stephie had lots of visitors for her very first Easter Sunday!

In addition, she enjoyed getting all dressed up in her new outfit! Funny how even the "up to 7 pounds" newborn clothes look huge on her. Mommy's little peanut!

Days versus Nights

Baby Stephanie officially has her days and nights confused! She slept for a grand total of 75 consecutive minutes during the night last night, then promptly passed out in her papasan chair at 6am this morning, just in time for Mommy to totally give up on sleeping for the day.

Here is Stephie during the day: what a sweet, peaceful sleeping bundle!

In contrast, here is Stephie from 10pm-6am:

Awake and Alert!

Stephanie had her first real extended period of awake alert time today. She was wide-awake with her eyes open and looking around after one of her feedings. She enjoyed showing off those baby blues. The third picture shows what Stephie thinks of Mommy taking so many pictures of her all the time!

Stephie's first pacifier!

After a 2 1/2 hour breast-feeding run from 1:30 until 4am, we decided to try a pacifier this morning to see if she was really hungry or just needing to be soothed. Daddy enjoyed giving her the very first pacifier, and she loved it! That is, until Grandma Julie and Mommy went out for a walk around the block and Stephie realized that the pacifier was not going to produce any milk, at which point she screamed for 15 minutes until Mommy got back home. Oops.

Grandma and the Girls

We had a showing of our condo this afternoon, so we retreated up to the apartment for a few minutes while another realtor was downstairs. Brie decided that Stephanie could not monopolize Grandma's lap and decided to get in on the action. Lucky Grandma Julie with her two white little bundles!

Stephanie comes home!

We made it home from the hospital yesterday! Grandma Julie drove us home from the hospital, and Daddy met us at home for the big homecoming and first meeting with Brie. Brie has been an exceptional doggie so far giving the baby lots of attention but not being overbearing or showing any aggression toward her. Brie's favorite activity so far is licking the baby's feet and watching her sleep.

Stephanie's going home outfit, given to her by Grandma Michelle (one of her first items of clothing!):
