***Weight gain update***

At four weeks old exactly today, Stephie is weighing in at a hefty 8 pounds 9 ounces! In under 3 weeks since her last appointment, she gained 2 pounds exactly, more than 25% of her body weight. What a good eater! She is now 20 inches long (up an inch from her last visit). She got her second hepatitis B vaccination and a clean bill of health from Dr. Schmandt. Go Stephie!

Raise your hand if you love a bargain...

Stephie and Mommy went grocery shopping today before the doctor's appointment. We needed a few ingredients in order to satisfy Daddy's somewhat random craving for moussaka for dinner tonight. Stephie helped out by holding coupons. She's quite the bargain shopper already!

Mommy's little chunker

Stephie has gained about a pound and a half since she was born, and I think that 90% of it must be in her cheeks! She definitely has a chubby little face. Of course, as Lindsay told me, some of it may be due to her building up her "milk muscles" ... she certainly does spend a good deal of her time eating! Stay tuned for the official weight-gain update after her pediatrician appointment tomorrow...

For those of you in doubt...

That baby sure is sleepy!

Stephie spent a quiet afternoon sleeping on Grandpa Allen. She's gearing up for being up all night again!

Angel face...

Here are a few pictures of sweet little Stephie in her crib, sleeping like an angel this afternoon. Little would you know that she spent the entire morning screaming! Mommy took her to get her portrait taken which turned out to be a very, very bad idea. Stephie was all dressed up in an adorable pink outfit and arrived well-fed and content. That is, until the camera bulbs started flashing, at which point she puked on herself, puked on Mommy, screamed like a banshee, and created many photos of her face looking like a cross between having a huge bowel movement and undergoing Chinese water torture. Not a good look. After a bottle of breast milk, several rounds of shooshing, a change of clothes, and some serious pacifier time, we tried again with the same results. Mommy and Stephie left the portrait studio covered in spit-up and exhausted. Stephie, of course, fell right asleep on the car ride home and has been peaceful ever since. Go figure. I'll post the link to the professional photos when they become available next week, but suffice it to say that I don't think anyone is going to be ordering too many of them....
